Zuppa was happy to present the Canadian premiere of Australia's The Ranters.  From Tuesday April 12th – Saturday 16th, 2011, The Ranters performed their new work Song in conjunction with Zuppa's The Debacle at The Plutonium Playhouse.

@ The Plutonium Playhouse - 2315 Hunter Street, Halifax

Ranters Theatre is part of a collection of innovative companies that are making significant contributions to the quality and diversity of the arts in Australia and taking it to the world.

Inspired by Victor Hugo’s "Toilers of the Sea", Song is a series of selections from a song cycle by composer/performer James Tyson, theatre programmer for Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, Wales. The songs tell the story of the performers’ relationships to the sea and of a desire to achieve greatness while overcoming huge obstacles. The work-in-progress demonstration of SONG in Halifax will be the world premiere of these songs, the company’s Canadian debut and will serve as a preview for Ranters, before developing it into a full production for their Cardiff and Melbourne audiences.

Back from Wales in time to warn you!!!

Oct 10, 2010

Zuppa Theatre Co.’s Five Easy Steps (to the end of the world) returns from its world premiere in Cardiff, Wales.

Three actors. An original musical score. The last night on Earth?

In the midst of a shop's dusty backroom, three aging school friends have assembled to bid farewell to the world on the night of its supposed end. They share various reflections, insights and confessions as the fateful moment approaches. Five Easy Steps is about failed dreams and nostalgia, world-weariness and the apocalyptic appetite.

Five Easy Steps garnered high acclaim from Welsh audiences who had the following unsolicited comments to share:

"That was brilliant... your Cardiff audience loved it. Bloody nice one."

"...tonight reignited my passion for theatre. It was thrilling to be there..."

"...I'm not really sure if I found it funny or sad or frightening, or maybe all of the above, but it definitely left an impression on me... thank you."
